Senior Data Center Engineer

The **Senior Data Center Engineer** position is an individual contributor on the Data Center Services department responsible for supporting Data Center and Disaster Recovery operations at WVO. The department is responsible to manage the day to day operations of WVO's data centers. This includes recommending, designing and implementation of data center technologies service. Also this role is responsible to maintain a high level of service at WVO's data centers and anticipating future requirements. The department also owns responsibility of WVO's data center operations which include functions such as vendor management, space planning/management and environmental monitoring.

**Essential Job Functions**

**Individual contributor responsible for WVO's data center operations**

+ Maintains an expert level knowledge of all IT products, technologies, tools, methodologies, and services used within the department.

+ Provides expertise and performs tasks supporting data center operations.

+ Acquires and maintains working knowledge of WVO business processes and procedures.

+ Interfaces with other teams, vendors, and business as needed.

+ Ensures adherence to formal processes, standards and total quality practices in all activities.

+ Drives technology innovation and process improvement efforts.

+ Completes other assignments as requested by management.

+ Data center space and power planning focused on optimizing data center footprint, power, and cooling.

+ Data center monitoring of all equipment and environmental parameters.

**Individual contributor supporting WVO's data center Disaster Recovery Program**

+ Develops and maintains Disaster Recovery Plans and Procedures for business applications that support the critical business functions using the Recovery Time Objective (RTO), Recovery Point Objective (RPO) and other requirements information from the WVO Disaster Recovery Program.

+ Develops processes and procedures for the inclusion of the disaster recovery plan for all new systems.

+ Develops, documents, and implements changes to Disaster Recovery Plans and Procedures based on requests for change according to change control procedures.

+ Develops, documents, and executes testing of recovery procedures.

+ Exercises the plan at least once annually or as directed by management.

+ Implement processes and procedures to improve Disaster Recovery Plans and Procedures and to mature the Disaster Recovery Program

+ General knowledge of various technology components relating to mainframe, server, database, network, storage, SRM, and data replication technologies

+ Knowledge of leading technology recovery products, vendors, and emerging solutions (i.e. cloud, DRaaS, data center modeling)

**Minimum Requirements and Qualifications**

**Job experience:**

+ At least 10 years of work experience in progressively responsible roles.

+ At least 7 years direct hands on experience with data center operations, business continuity and disaster recovery planning, preferably with experience in DR planning within a medium to large enterprise

+ Minimum 3 years in leading IT technology projects.

+ Hospitality industry IT is a plus.


+ Bachelor's degree in relevant discipline (Computer Science, Information Management or Information Science) or mix of education and experience.

**Training requirements:**

+ Certified Business Continuity Professional (CBCP) or higher certification from DRII or equivalent preferred.

**Knowledge and skills:**

+ Demonstrated ability to lead in a crisis/disaster.

+ Ability to assemble and lead cross functional teams

+ Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal

+ Strong planning and project management skills

+ Adept at multi-tasking and developing others in a fast moving and changing environment

+ Ability to organize, create, follow and coordinate the update of documented processes

+ Strong self-sufficiency and independent work ethic.

+ The ability to learn quickly, work autonomously and make sound decisions

+ Results-oriented and able to deliver and lead delivery in a fast-paced environment

+ Ability to organize, plan, exercise good judgment, and manage multiple requirements in a timely manner

+ Excellent customer service, communication and technical documentation skills

**Technical Skills**

+ Thorough knowledge of data center operations, business continuity and disaster recovery planning methodology.

+ Demonstrated knowledge of best practice in BCP & DR planning, techniques, and deploying DR technologies.

+ Familiarity with risk and business impact analysis.

+ Experience working in multiple-site, multiple vendor team environment.

+ Knowledge of the SDLC and ability to follow documented processes.

**Travel Requirements**

+ Ability to travel 5%
